Hartwell Carson (President)
Hartwell received his graduate from the University of Montana and undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Resource Management. After his thesis work to understand the ecological and social impacts in the Missouri Wild and Scenic River, he took a job in Asheville, NC as the French Broad Riverkeeper. His work as the French Broad Riverkeeper has helped protect and enhance the water quality of the French Broad River by advocating for stricter pollution controls and monitoring the water quality of the river. The French Broad River is one of two major headwater tributaries of the Tennessee River. Based in Asheville, NC and patrolling through Knoxville, TN - Hartwell is one of the leading experts and advocates for water quality at the beginnings of the Tennessee River watershed.
